My name is Amber Genzink, and I am in the Education Specialist Degree program in Instructional Technology at Kennesaw State University. I began the program in Summer 2013 and will graduate Summer 2014. I graduated from Central Michigan University in 2007 with a Bachelor's degree in education. Following this, I moved to Georgia and began teaching at LaBelle Elementary School in Marietta.
I taught fourth grade for three years and began my Master's in TESOL at Kennesaw State University. After one year of the program, I moved to China to teach English as a Foreign Language for a year and put into practice what I had learned in the TESOL program. After this wonderful experience, I returned to LaBelle Elementary as the Technology Coach and Technology Teacher for students K-5. Most recently at LaBelle, I taught fifth grade as a general education teacher, and was able to integrate my knowledge of instructional technology into nearly every lesson using a class laptop cart, ActivBoard, and document camera.
It was during my time as the Technology Coach and Teacher that I saw the power of instructional technology. It allowed me to better reach my ESOL students and students with special needs. The positive experiences I had in the Technology Lab motivated me to pursue the Education Specialist Degree in Instructional Technology at KSU to further assist me in utilizing technology to reach the individual needs of my students.
The purpose of this portfolio is to demonstrate my mastery of the PSC Instructional Technology standards, along with the ISTE NETS-C standards. The tabs above will direct you to artifacts demonstrating my competence in each of these standards. The video reflection will give an overview of my growth during my Specialist program, and would be an excellent place to begin reviewing my portfolio. The additional tabs will provide you with insight into my development and thoughts about particular facets of instructional technology, and are best viewed in order from left to right. After reflecting, I am proud to say I have learned a great deal and developed myself as an effective instructional technology leader during this program.
